As the current executive editor of George County High School Journalism Staff, I never would have believed that four years ago I'd be where I am today. As the only remaining staff member from my freshman year, journalism has become one of the biggest factors in my life. It has taught me how to be a leader by inspiring others, and how to become my best self using creative skill sets. I wouldn’t be where I am today if not for my journalism advisor Leona O’Neal. She not only believed in me from the very beginning, but she continued to help me flourish as a journalist all four years by giving creative freedom. From the moment I joined, I knew the yearbook design was my passion. Together as a staff, we’ve managed to replenish our excellence in yearbook design and we have received more awards than ever. More than that, journalism has taught me to step out of my comfort zone. Senior year was the first time I had really taken a step into broadcasting. Fortunately, I was given the amazing opportunity to intern for a media company. It brought me even further out of my shell and allowed me to adapt to new professions. I will always be forever grateful for the friendships I've made through journalism and the knowledge I have attained. To say I will use these skill sets in every future endeavor of mine is an understatement.
