Broadcasting is like the heartbeat of journalism. It's all about getting the news out there to everyone, and fast! Imagine something big happens – without broadcasting, we'd be waiting around to find out what's going on. But with TV, radio, and online streams, we get the scoop as it unfolds. It's like we're right there where the action is. When you see or hear a story being broadcasted, it feels more personal. You can see the reporter's expressions, hear the tone of their voice, and sometimes it's like they're talking just to you. It makes the news hit home harder. Plus, broadcasters can use videos and sounds to tell a story in a way that articles and photos just can't match. Senior year, I got offered to interview coaches and players while being broadcast over a live radio. It was an offer I couldn't pass up. It has given me practice in my journalism skills including consistent speaking speed, voice amplification, and coming up with questions on the spot. I participated in this event every monday at the "Coaches Corner" during basketball and soccer season.
